Theory of Change @ L4L
Theory
of Change at Learning 4 Life
After reading this article, I found it helpful and
insightful. I enjoyed the worksheet that was provided. The organizational chart
was helpful to visually see how someone would set these goals and then plan steps
to achieve them. When you plan long term and have a larger picture in mind, you
must plan for things to go wrong or have multiple avenues. When your plan does
not go the way you thought it would, then it is important to not get discouraged.
Making a stronger plan or collaborating with others may help achieve a goal. Or
maybe thinking about a completely new goal if that one is not achievable yet!
“The Theory of Change tool not only helps to clearly
articulate and connect your work to your bigger goal, it also allows you to
spot potential risks in your plan by sharing the underlying assumptions in each
step”
For my student organization, the honor society, one step towards
induction is to write out SMART goals. We use this model in the education field
all the time. I think this model can help outline academic, personal, and professional
goal setting. Here are just some examples that we use.
At my internship, Learning 4 life, we have a large amount of
resources because of all the collaborations on and off campus. Some examples are
·
A. L. L. I. E. D.- the Advanced Learning and
Leadership Initiative for Educational Diversity
We have may networks and dedicated individuals that are tightly connected to each other. I believe that their Theory of Change is moving towards breaking down barriers to help students achieve academic and personal achievements. We try to reduce students food insecurity, transportation issues, financial aid counseling, and housing opportunities.
The Advisory Board is organized to support
the project as it strives for institutional change, community awareness, and
connection. The Advisory Board meets quarterly to learn about project progress,
as well as to provide guidance and insight into new collaborative opportunities.
The Project Team works together through the
struggles and successes that come with proposing, developing and implementing a
new model for providing support for access and retention for students at Rhode
Island College.
