Mission: The Rhode Island Foundation is a proactive community and philanthropic leader dedicated to meeting the needs of the people of Rhode Island. 


They are inspired by the many engaged Rhode Islanders who work as donors, partners, and grantees to address today's challenges and to create lasting improvements in the community. They believe that we can transform our state into a place where all Rhode Islanders have opportunity to prosper, be productive, and have a healthy quality of life. 











RI Foundation is a comprehensive funder in the state and is committed to maximizing impact through grants, outreach, and other community investments. In 2016 there was more than $45 million dollars awarded to more than 1,600 organizations.

The Foundation awards 43 grants costing $500,000 to fund community building activities in every city and town in the state. Grants were made to nonprofit organizations, municipal governments, and community agencies.

At Roger Williams Park, a $10 million dollar campaign is held to preserve and enhance RI’s treasured spaces such as green spaces and parks for youth.









A couple Questions that I would have for this foundation would be about their future goals and the populations that they are trying to reach. I would be interested in how they are strategizing to expand and connect to more individuals/communities.  


Another question that I would have for the foundation would be what opportunities do they have for interns or volunteers that want to become more involved in the organization.

              If a youth was to come up to me and asked me about the Black Lives Movement I feel that I would be prepared to have that conversation. I would describe it as a powerful social justice movement and a topic that needs to have more advocacy.  This movement is not just about saving black lives but all loss of life. It is unfortunate that we have to identify the loss of lives as predominantly African Americans however ,numbers do not lie and the evidence is there to support  that black men are being targeted by the police, justice system and media. Internship-Mission and Vision Statement

"Learning for Life (L4L) is a research-based, multi-faceted community and college partnership that links students to a network of services, supports and opportunities. This collaborative work fortifies students for college success and removes any challenges that they may encounter in keeping college a central priority in their lives. The L4L staff team includes networks of peer mentors/advocates called Navigators, who are supported by Lead Navigators, three Educational Support Facilitators, a Data Specialist, an Assistant Director and a Director. Hiii Everyone!!!! #goals

This post is to get me back in on my work grindddd. Graduation is coming near and I wanted to make sure I was on my shishhhhhh I am making a commitment to myself that I will continue to  make these efforts to completing the work!!! This blog post is to remind myself why I have worked so hard through the years here at Rhode Island College and why I wan to continue.      I do all of this for my daughter and will not give up because I am strong for her. I am so thankful for all of the communities that I have created and look forward to continuing my advanced education  here at RIC and hopefully then pursue law!
